Peter E. Broadbent Jr. was awarded the President’s Citation by the National Genealogical Society. The honor is given annually in recognition of outstanding, continuing or unusual contributions to the field of genealogy or to the Society itself. Broadbent received the President’s Citation in appreciation of his seven years of service on the NGS board of directors.
Broadbent also has extensive involvement with Virginia organizations focused on family history, having served as president of both the Virginia Genealogical Society and the Genealogical Research Institute of Virginia, and chairman of the Library of Virginia. He is presently a legislatively-appointed citizen member of the Virginia Bicentennial of the American War of 1812 Commission.
