Betts Elected to Board for Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges
J. Edward Betts has been elected a member of the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges’ Board of Trustees.
Founded in 1952, the VFIC is a nonprofit, fundraising and programmatic partnership of smaller, undergraduate residential Virginia member colleges and supporting corporations. Its Board of Trustees is comprised of business leaders as well as the presidents of the member colleges.
Betts is managing partner at Christian & Barton, L.L.P. He focuses his practice on antitrust compliance and unfair competition law, and teaches these subjects at the University of Richmond School of Law. He is past president of the Virginia Bar Association, the former chair of the Virginia Committee on Lawyer Discipline, and he served as a member of the state’s Lawyer Disciplinary Board.
Betts received his Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law and a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School. He earned his undergraduate degree at Colgate University.
