Bio:

Christopher M. Gill, LEED® AP, is an associate in Christian & Barton’s Commercial Real Estate and Environmental Law practice areas.  A substantial portion of his practice consists of the representation of business, industry, developers, landowners, local governments and government agencies involving matters related to property transactions, property rights, land use and a variety of environmental matters.

Mr. Gill holds the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design® Accredited Professional designation. The LEED rating system is the national standard used to support and certify green building design, construction and operations. 

Representative Commercial Real Estate Matters

• Representation of a large East Coast land development company in the acquisition, development and sale of numerous commercial properties and the negotiation of leases with various national credit tenants.

• Representation of a multinational supplier of engineered materials, natural resources and technology-based services in the sale of various tracts of timberland throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.

• Representation of a solid waste management company in multiple transactions for the acquisition of parcels of land adjacent to its landfill operations to be used as office space and for the expansion of the company's operations.

• Various title, zoning, subdivision, lease and other due diligence matters related to real estate owned by a company being acquired by a publicly-traded energy client.

• Representation of a Richmond-based corporation in the acquisition of a commercial condominium.

• Representation of a healthcare corporation in the leasing of a portion of a large regional hospital campus in Ohio for the development of a mental healthcare facility.

• Representation of various landowners and developers in the acquisition of properties by partition.

Representative Environmental Law Matters

• Representation of a large, multifaceted waste management company in its purchase of the assets of a landfill facility in Virginia and continuing representation of such company in the operation and expansion of such facility.

• Work on various due diligence matters related to environmental concerns associated with the acquisition of the stock of a bulk chemical and petroleum storage and transportation company by a publicly-traded energy client.

• Representation of a Virginia municipality in a multimillion dollar dredging project to restore a downtown harbor to the municipality.

• Participation in overall firm assistance to a Virginia municipality regarding various water supply issues.

• Representation of a multinational corporation in defense of an enforcement action brought by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Community Involvement

Mr. Gill is co-chair of the Legal Food Frenzy, a program of the Virginia Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division, in partnership with the Attorney General’s office, to encourage law firms to challenge each other to collect the most food donations for food banks around the state.  He also has participated in the Pro Bono Housing Law Program, providing assistance to low-income residential tenants in need of legal advice with regard to landlord disputes.
